Aim of the Community Safety Unit (CSU)
  • Investigate all crime reported to them
  • Support victims and vulnerable persons
  • Refer people to suitable agencies
  • in partnership, with colleagues such as the Sector Working Group(SWG) work to address issues that effect local communities

Remember - It's Your Choice

Tackling hate together

CSU can speak with an individual privately, give advice about options or put anyone in touch with other organisations that can support - completely confidentially. See a list of such organisations opposite.

CSU Will Listen to You

If an individual wants to see the person who has committed the crime against them prosecuted, CSU will take you through the process and offer support. At every stage they will listen and act on your wishes. One officer will stay with your investigation throughout to keep you informed.

Working Together

If the incident is not an actual offence CSU will still investigate it seriously and offer support. Any information is important and by working together CSU can stop hate crimes.

You Matter

CSU will deal with an individual's case promptly, sensitively and effectively. CSU treats every call as a priority. An officer will visit or you can attend the police station or send someone else. CSU can talk to you on the phone or report the matter through another organisation such as your local housing association or indeed the SWG.CSU will explain what options are available to you.

CSU will:
  • keep a record of what's happened
  • choose one officer to be in charge of your case from beginning to end
  • put you in touch with other organisations
  • arrest the suspect if we can (positive arrest policy)
  • support you, if you have to go to court

Victims Support

Vicitm Support

Victim Support is the independent charity which helps people cope with the effects of crime. We provide free and confidential support and information to help you deal with your experience.

Victim Support also works to promote and advance the rights of victims and witnesses.

They are committed to welcoming and involving minority and disadvantaged groups throughout the organisation.

Victim Support Westminster helps our residents cope with the effects of crime. They do this by providing confidential support and information to victims of crime and to witnesses attending local courts. Their services are free, independent of the police and courts, and available to everyone, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. If you would like to know more about their specific services, contact details are available on their Westimnster Victim Support website or please contact them locally at below:
